Supreme Court orders departments to vacate 420-kanal trust land
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the government departments to vacate 420-kanal urban property of Sardar Koray Khan trust in district Muzaffargarh.
A three-member SC bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, heard the suo moto **tice case. Sardar Koray Khan Jatoi had bequeathed 83,000 kanals of land for the welfare of the Muzaffargarh district people, but the land was being mismanaged by the government departments. Justice Ejaz Afzal remarked that it was unfortunate that the dispute regarding trust land could **t be resolved despite the Court order. He observed that the government departments could **t use the trust land without buying it. He remarked that if the government departments did **t vacate the land, then they should pay the land price to the trust. The Court also summoned a report after getting the land vacated, so that the Court could issue directions for proper utilisation of the trust land. The Court also directed the petitioner to submit his objections against the district administration in writing. The Muzaffargarh deputy commissioner appeared before the Court and informed that Rs7.8 million were generated by cultivation of wheat on 470 acres of trust land. Petitioner Muzaffar Magsi stated that the district administration was **t telling the truth to the court. He said that the administration showed that around 265 tonnes of wheat was produced and showed that Rs7.8 million as income. He said that around 706-ton wheat was produced and its estimated cost was above Rs20 million. He said that there was 984 acres of trust land but the administration did **t mention 561 acres land. The petitioner also pleaded with the Court to issue orders for vacation of 80-kanal Sardar Koray Khan tomb. The deputy commissioner told the Court that Judicial Complex, Police, Tehsil Complex, Schools, colleges and playground was constructed on the trust land.
