ISLAMABAD: Things have **t really settled as yet between the civil and military leaders on the situation caused by the recent controversial tweet from DG ISPR.
Sources said that both the sides are expecting from each other to be the first to take the “initiative”, required to be taken to get the issue resolved. The government, it is said, is expecting from the military side to delete the DG ISPR's tweet or at least issue some clarification. It is believed that the military expects from the government to make the DawnLeak Commission’s recommendations public in their original shape. These sources said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is considering holding a meeting with his close political aides and selected cabinet ministers here on Tuesday to discuss the strategy on how to resolve the issue. The government believes that the DG ISPR's tweet was unwarranted and uncalled for. In the government’s view, the military had hastily and unfairly reacted through Twitter to the prime minister’s executive order for the implementation of the Leaks Commission’s recommendations. In the post-ISPR tweet situation, ** official word came from the military side for the media or public. However, the tweet itself conveyed the military’s reservations about the order issued by the PM’s ******. The controversial tweet dated 29th April read: “**tification on Dawn Leak is incomplete and **t in line with recommendations by the Inquiry Board. **tification is rejected.” The said tweet is still available on the DG ISPR’s Twitter account. The government sources said that the tweet has undermined the civilian supremacy and embarrassed the prime minister, who is the elected chief executive of the country. On Sunday, the state Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb told the media that a **tification on the Leaks inquiry report would be issued by the Ministry of Interior in a day or two. The state minister said it was premature to say anything before the issuance of the **tification which, she said, will remove all concerns once released. She added that the **tification would be detailed, determining the role of each and every person in the Leaks. A day before on Saturday, the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed the situation arising out of the PM’s order and DG ISPR's tweet. On Friday last, the media reported that the army chief met the prime minister on last Thursday to discuss the issue for the first time after the DG ISPR’s tweet. Media reported that the meeting was held in a pleasant atmosphere. However, ** official word was issued to the media either by the PM’s ****** or the military spokesman. أكثر... |
