ISLAMABAD: A spokesman of Interior ministry Tuesday said that his ministry had received the Dawn Leaks report and would be submitted to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Wednesday) after going through it in details.
The spokesman said that the News Leaks report was formally handed over to the Interior minister at 6.45 pm. He, in a statement, said that ** comments could be made about the report without going through it. He said unfortunately some elements were trying to give a specific angle to this matter. He said the report would be presented to the prime minister today (Wednesday) and after getting his approval its recommendations would be made public.
On the other hand, the report of taking resignation from Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi was being circulated whole day on Tuesday too. While, it was claimed that the prime minister had summoned Tariq Fatemi in Prime Minister House and asked him to resign voluntarily. But Tariq Fatemi expressed his reservations in this regard.
According to the sources of Interior Ministry, the foreign minister of Maldives was on Pakistan visit and on Tuesday according to the schedule he was called on prime minister in Prime Minister House and on this occasion Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were also present. There was ** separate meeting held between the prime minister and Tariq Fatemi while the PM’s special assistant also performed his duties in Foreign ministry on Tuesday and chaired meeting of additional secretaries of Foreign Ministry.
According to the aforesaid sources, Tariq Fatemi has made it in clear words that he has **thing to do with the controversial report and therefore, he himself Will **t resign. However, he said, if he was asked to resign he would bound to act upon the order of prime minister.
On the other hand the sources said that Tariq Fatemi had held separate meeting with the prime minister and consultations were held regarding News Leaks. The sources said that so far ** final shape was given to sack Fatemi from performing his duties.
