ISLAMABAD: A spokesperson of Pakistan Television, while clarifying a news item in a section of press, said that the information pertaining to PTV Chairman Ataul Haq Qasmi self-assuming the additional charge of managing director PTV as under discussion by the Senate Standing Committee on Information is inaccurate and unfounded.
The spokesperson added that the post of the MD has been vacant for the last two months, which was causing innumerable and incessant management issues.
During this time the PTV chairman made continuous efforts to encourage and support the process of hiring PTV managing director as per rules and procedures. However, to meet the daily requirements of running of business of PTV, the Board of Directors conferred the additional charge on PTV Chairman Ataul Haq Qasmi to ensure smooth functioning of the organisation in the absence of a full-time MD and to manage the day-to-day running of business.
These responsibilities are entirely temporary in nature and will be handed over to the managing director in totality at the time of his/her selection to the said post.
