KARACHI: The Jamaat-e-Islami here on Friday staged a sit-in in the city against the K-Electric’s tariff hike and excessive billing while the Pak Sarzameen Party launched its protest drive outside the Karachi Press Club on Thursday for securing due civic rights of the people of Karachi and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers staged a protest outside the ****** of the Karachi Cantonment Board (KCB) in Clifton over **n provision of civic facilities.
Building on its recent hit-and-miss protest against K-Electric, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) organised a demonstration outside the power utility’s headquarters in the Defence Housing Authority on Friday evening.
Led by JI’s city chief Hafiz Naeem, the demonstrators came out with three demands; an end to the practice of overbilling, installation of meters for all consumers and a reduction in the base tariff in line with the one introduced by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).
