will soon be packed across airports, trains and bus stations as they head home for one of the country's biggest celebrations,
Chinese New Year.*
A mindboggling
2.98 billion trips will be made over a 40-day stretch
this Chinese New Year, also k**wn as the Spring Festival, up 2 percent from last year.

The official Xinhua news agency reports that more than 8.6 million
trips were made last Friday alone, the first day of the annual travel rush.
For many, the seven-day
Chinese New
Year holiday is one of the few chances they get to travel home.
