LONDON — Bad news, Sherlock fans.

From the sounds of it, the fourth season of the much-loved detective show — which is set to start in 2017 — could very well be the last.

In an interview with GQ magazine, Benedict Cumberbatch said the next season "might be the end of an era".

"It feels like the end of an era, to be honest," he said. "It goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately."*

"We never say never on the show," Cumberbatch continued.
