Addressing a side event here at the 33rd UNHRC session, the Baloch leader said that the local population should also benefit from these resources and genuine grievances of the people must be addressed. Mehran Marri, also k**wn as Mehran Baloch, was presiding over a special session on Balochistan which was also addressed y his brother-in-law and leader of the banned Baloch Republican Party (BRP) leader Brahamdagh Bugti. Mehran said that there was an urgent need to invest these resources into the promotion of local culture, language, history and heritage to give ownership to the local people. He said that the local communities in Balochistan, like all other ethnic and cultural groups, want their original culture and identity protected. He called on the provincial government to spend all resources on the welfare of the local people and create jobs and opportunities for the youth so that they could find jobs locally instead of leaving their homes for pastures abroad. “China Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor runs through the biggest province of Pakistan and its important that the local stakeholders get their due share in all shapes and forms. Balochistan is full of gas, gold, oil, copper and the mineral wealth. Its strategic importance can**t be overstated. It’s the epicentre of resources in the region and that’s why the whole world is paying attention to it,” said Mehran Marri in his address to the participants. He added: I come from a family with a chequered history of fighting for the rights of the masses. My father was Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri who despite being in a position to be literally the king of a country, gave up everything for his political beliefs,” he said, adding that he fought for the right of the poor people so that they would be considered equal citizens “and share their secular values of a liberal democracy, a sense of humor, a language, a poetry and music across the world.” Mehran Marri said that Pakistan’s civil society and media had, in many instances, stood up for justice and human rights. أكثر... ??????? ??????: Mehran Marri calls for investment in human resources in Balochistan || ??????: ahlam1399 || ??????: اسم منتداك
