India basks in success of imaginary surgical strikes
NEW DELHI: The Indian Army on Thursday claimed to have killed over 30 militants in surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), a claim rejected by the Pakistan Army’s media wing.
Security and government officials said the Indian government and the army were trying to calm down people of India in the wake of their failure to cope with the situation in Occupied Kashmir and to prevent a militant attack that killed over a dozen soldiers in the Valley. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told media that Indian government is trying to calm down its people and media by resorting to such aggression towards Pakistan. "The **tion of surgical strike linked to alleged terrorists´ bases is an illusion being deliberately generated by India to create false effects," the Pakistan Army said in a statement. Military spokesman Asim Bajwa confirmed that Indian army opened unprovoked firing in violation of Cease Fire Agreement at difference sectors but rejected New Delhi’s claim that surgical strikes were carried out. He said two Pakistani soldiers were killed in the Indian firing. “A befitting response was given to the unprovoked firing,” he said. “If they are willing to escalate, we are also prepared to give the similar response”. He also mocked Indian claims of infiltration despite deployment of modern equipment at the LoC, terming the claims of surgical strikes a media gimmick. On the other hand, while Indian army claimed to have killed dozens of “terrorist”, it has failed to identify even a single militant killed in the so-called precision attack. Following the New Delhi’s claim, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called a high level security meeting as well as a joint sitting of the parliament to discuss the prevailing situation. Senior politicians condemned the Indian aggression at the Line Of Control and vowed to stand by the country’s armed forces in the event of any aggression.
