افتراضي Pakistan beat West Indies for T20 ****** win

DUBAI: Pakistan beat world champions the West Indies by 16 runs in the second T20 of the three-game ****** in Dubai on Saturday. By winning this match, Pakistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ******.

Pakistan went on to score 160-4 in 20 overs after the useful contributions of skipper Sarfraz Ahmed (46 **t out), Khalid Latif (40) and the veteran Shoaib Malik (37) at the Dubai Cricket Stadium.

Ahmed top-scored with five boundaries while Malik smashed a six and three fours as Pakistan kept the same tempo, which earned them a win in the first match. The opener Khalid Latif made a 36-ball 40 with three boundaries and a towering six. Babar Azam made 19 and Sharjeel Khan two.

As a result, the Pakistani team restricted the West Indies to 144-9 with left-arm paceman Sohail Tanvir taking 3-13, also completing 50 wickets in the shortest format. However, Shahid Afridi is the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket with 97, while two other Pakistanis, fast bowler Umar Gul and spinner Saeed Ajmal, have 85 each.

Pakistan had won the first match — also in Dubai — by nine wickets on Friday. The victory over the world champions gave Pakistan a reason to smile in their campaign to build a new team after they thumped England by nine wickets in Manchester, earlier this month.

While expressing his joy over the victory, Sarfraz Ahmed said: “The credit goes to all the boys. The way we batted, fielded and put effort in the field, it was a real team effort. It is a good sign that all youngsters are performing for Pakistan. I just wanted to come and be positive, and the way Shoaib Malik played with me, the credit goes to him as well. The boys are putting in hard effort in the field, it is visible on their performance as well.”

It is important to **te that the Pakistani team was ousted in the first round of the World T20 held in India in April this year, forcing Shahid Afridi to step down as captain.

On the other hand, Sunil Narine top-scored with 30 while Andre Fletcher made 29. Narine hit four boundaries and a six during his 17-ball k**ck but 74 runs in the last five overs proved too much for the champions. The third and final match will be played in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
