President confers NI(M) on Turkish commander
ISLAMABAD: President Mam**on Hussain conferred the award of Nishan-e-Imtiaz (military) on Gen Salih Zeki Colak commander of the Turkish Land Forces at a special investiture ceremony Wednesday at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The President decorated Gen Salih Zeki Colak commander of the Turkish Land Forces in recognition of his outstanding services and contributions in strengthening relations between the armed forces of Turkey and Pakistan and for enhancing strategic cooperation between the two countries. The special investiture ceremony was attended by COAS Gen Raheel Sharif, defence secretary, ambassador of Turkey to Pakistan and top officials.The President said Pakistan and Turkey enjoy close brotherly ties which were growing stronger by each passing day. The President reiterated Pakistan’s strong desire to further strengthen its partnership with Turkey in defence sector. Gen Salih Zeki Colak said strong brotherly relations between Turkey and Pakistan were rooted in history and said the people of Turkey and their coming generations would always fondly cherish the help extended by the Muslims of the subcontinent during the Turkish war of independence. Gen Colak thanked the President and the government of Pakistan for the award and hoped that bilateral relations between the two countries would rise to new heights in future and both countries would collectively overcome the common problems of terrorism, refugees and border security. According to a**ther report, commander of the Turkish Land Forces Gen Saleh Zaki Colak was briefed about Pakistan’s endeavours to promote regional peace security and stability.The visiting Turkish dignitary was briefed by National Security Adviser Lt-Gen Nasser Khan Janjua (retd) at a meeting held here. Underscoring the centrality of Kashmir to the Pakistan-India relations the NSA said the way India is trying to handle Kashmir by way of use of force it will affect the regional stability ultimately undermining world peace. The NSA underlined the need saying world community needs to intervene to ensure that the situation does **t spiral out of hands.He reiterated that there is a dire need to resolve outstanding dispute of Kashmir according to the UN resolutions. He insisted that Kashmir should be used as a key to peace to mitigate this dangerous flashpoint. The NSA praised Turkish people for their recent role they played for their country and thanked Turkey for supporting Pakistan’s Nuclear Suppliers Group membership.
