Govt bans use and sale of toy guns in Quetta
QUETTA: The government of Balochistan has imposed a ban on the sale and use of toy guns throughout the province for one month. The ban was imposed and came into effect on Tuesday.
According to the Balochistan home ministry, the use and sale of toy guns have a negative impact on the minds of young schoolchildren. Hence, in order to curb the spread of this negativity among the mindset of these young individuals, the ban was imposed on the use and sale of toy guns throughout the province. The ban has been imposed for one whole month, using Section 144. Balochistan is Pakistan's most restive province and has experienced a spate of violence during the past decade. Insurgents and militants have mostly targeted law enforcement personnel in the province. Last month, on August 8, a bomb blast struck Quetta Civil Hospital in which more than seventy people were killed, mostly lawyers and scores of others were injured. This is **t the first time that a provincial government has banned the sale and use of toy guns in Pakistan. In July, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also banned the sale and use of toy ******* in Peshawar in a bid to curb the influence of ******* among the younger generations.
