35 killed as gunships target terrorists in Rajanpur
330 suspects arrested, arms seized from various parts of Punjab
RAJANPUR: At least 35 terrorists were killed as gunship helicopters targeted their hideouts during the ongoing combing operation in the tribal area of Rajanpur on Monday. The security forces also arrested 82 terrorists. Those who had been killed were involved in bombing gas pipelines, railway tracks and other installations, sources said. The operation was in progress till the filing of this report and would continue even on the Eid day. Five gunships were used during the operation on Monday. Eight terrorists were killed and several others captured during a similar operation a few days ago. On the other hand, police and other law enforcement agencies arrested 330 suspects from different towns and cities of the province. Of these, 135 were arrested from Vehari and 50 from Sirai Alamgir, Kharian and Lalamusa. In Faisalabad, 51 persons were arrested and two Kalashnikovs and other rifles, two pistols, one repeater, liquor and hashish were also recovered. Seven arrests were made in Bahawalnagar and 16 in Mandi Bahauddin besides a seizure of arms. More than 70 persons were arrested from Kasur, as the law enforcers also recovered arms and ***** from their possession. Meanwhile, a**ther report from Lahore said the Punjab Rangers arrested six suspected persons during the ongoing operation against terrorists and criminals. Seventeen latest ******* and bullets were also recovered from their custody.
