KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan has filed a petition in Sindh High Court against victory of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Ghulam Murtaza Baloch in PS-127 by-elections.
Waseem Ahmed, MQM candidate and runner-up in the by-elections, through his counsel Rao Sharif advocate filed the petition in SHC, seeking to halt the **tification of PPP candidate’s victory till the decision of Election Tribunal. MQM Pakistan has decided to challenge the results of PS-127 Malir Karachi in the Election Tribunal. According to u**fficial results, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP)’s candidate Ghulam Murtaza Baloch clinched the PS-127 seat of Sindh Assembly, Karachi, in a crucial by-elections held in the city on Thursday. MQM’s Waseem Ahmed remained the runner-up. Speaking to media outside the court, Rao Sharif Advocate said Form-14 from several polling stations were **t provided and the elections were held in an atmosphere of fear, adding that large-scale rigging was carried out in the by-polls. Rao went on to say elections should be declared void and PPP candidate Murtaza Baloch ineligible.
