Govt serious in finalising ToRs: minister
ISLAMABAD: minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Friday said that the government was seriously playing its role in finalising the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for Panama papers. “We are trying to investigate the Panama papers in good faith but the opposition is just playing games in this matter, Tariq Fazal said while speaking at a joint press conference along with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Daniyal Aziz and Talal Chaudhry. He said it was **t the government but the opposition that was afraid of investigation into the Panama papers as many opposition leaders were owners of offshore companies including Imran Khan, Jehangir Tareen, Aleem Khan and Pervaiz Elahi. He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) popularity was continuously falling which was evident from the party’s recent public gatherings. He said Imran Khan should focus on delivering to the people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for winning their hearts instead of using propaganda to gain popularity. Tariq Fazal said that the name of Prime minister Nawaz Sharif was **t included in the Panama papers. The prime minister was busy in initiating several mega projects for uplift of people throughout the country rather than replying to the PTI’s propaganda. He asked Imran Khan should respond to the reference against him instead of blaming the Speaker of the National Assembly. Daniyal Aziz said that the opposition had been continuously changing its demands for investigation by expressing ** confidence in the institutions. He said the government had prepared a draft of a comprehensive law replacing the 1956 Inquiry Commission Act. Daniyal Aziz said that the opposition’s seven questions became 70 and **w again reduced to only four. “Did they get answers to their 66 questions?” he asked. He said the new proposed law had full powers and provided for across the board accountability whereas the bill drafted by the opposition was specific having mala fide intentions. Daniyal Aziz said **w people understood the U-turns and fact twisting by the PTI and the sincerity shown on part of the government on the issue. They could **t be misguided by telling lies any more, he added. Talal Chaudhry said that the people who could **t protect women how they could respect anyone’s home. “Imran Khan will be responsible in case of any damage during the Raiwind march,” he said. He said that PTI caused huge damage to the nationalinstitutions during their last sit-in in Islamabad. He said that the PML-N never accused Shaukat Khannum Trust of misusing the funds. The PTI chief should look around and into his home to find corruption, he said. He criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s an**uncement of staging protest and marching on Raiwind saying that their spirit would fade away within a few weeks. He said that PTI leaders had been bashing the National Assembly Speaker as being fake but **w they were addressing him as Mr Speaker. Talking to mediapersons here outside the Parliament House, Talal Chaudhry said Tareen did enter politics after holding Nawaz Sharif s hands. He blamed Tareen for corruption saying that he allegedly manipulated SECP shares for illegal gains. He questioned Jehangir Tareen as how he became a billionaire. Criticising PTI chief, Talal Chaudhry said Imran Khan refused to accept Ayaz Sadiq as custodian of the lower House but **w his party member was calling him Mr Speaker. He said that certain elements were sitting at the right and left of Imran Khan and the masses had rejected the PTI leaders and the party was just doing politics of agitation and sit-ins.
