Three hydropower projects to start generation this year
PESHAWAR: The provincial government is working on early completion of energy projects and Three hydropower projects of 56 megawatts will be completed during the current year.
Speaking at the Board of Directors meeting here on Wednesday, Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed, Chairman Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (PEDO), said that these hydel projects would help in controlling energy crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was stated that Three hydropower projects namely Machai, Ra**lia and Daral Khwar HPPs having generation capacity of 56MW will start power generation in 2016. About 100 micro hydel projects have been completed in the backward areas wherein people are deprived of electricity. Secretary Energy and Power Naeem Khan, Additional Secretary Home Attaur Rehman, PESCO Chief Anwarul Haq Yousafzai, Senator Nauman Wazir, Fuad Ishaq, Latif Khan and CEO PEDO Akbar Ayub Khan attended the meeting. The meeting discussed financial and management affairs of the department and examined the pace of work at various ongoing hydropower projects.
