The fifth flagship meeting between Pakistani authorities and Afghan authorities was held on Wednesday. The Pakistani side was led by Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Changaiz while the Afghan contingent was headed by Colonel Muhammad Ali. The Afghan side apologized over the incident and stated that it had resulted from the actions of enemies of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Afghan side also stated that in the near future, such an incident would be resolved jointly by Pakistani and Afghan forces.
Colonel Muhammad Changaiz said that the Afghan apology was an important development and said that the border would be opened on Thursday at 8 am. The situation at Pak-Afghan border had remained tense as the border had been closed for fourteen consecutive days since the Afghan citizens protested and chanted anti-Pakistan slogans on August 22.
