Anti-Pakistan speech: Committee formed to review legal aspects *
KARACHI: The federal government has formed a committee, headed by Attorney General of Pakistan, to review legal and constitutional aspects of Anti-Pakistan speech by Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder and matters pertaining to MQM.
Sources said the Committee will review the evidences under Article 17/A of the constitution and would present its recommendations for filing reference against MQM founder and for action against MQM. Well-informed sources said the Committee led by AG would comprise secretary law, home secretary, all four provincial home secretaries and other officials. The Committee would finalize its terms of references in a day or two. According to legal advisors of the government, the Committee would collect evidences over the matter of Anti-Pakistan speech made by MQM founder and pertaining to its support. It will review these evidences under article 17/A of the constitution. Meanwhile, a decision has been taken to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the August 22 violence in the metropolis. According to sources, the decision was taken due to the anti-terrorism clauses present in the case pertaining to the violence.
