ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Friday urged the international community to take **tice of Indian atrocities against Kashmiris.
The adviser said the oppressive measures by India could **t deter the valiant people of the Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) from their just struggle for the right to self-determination. He deplored the lethal use of force by the Indian occupation forces against in**cent Kashmiris. Sartaj Aziz said this while briefing ambassadors of the Permanent Members of the UN Security Council (China, France, Russia, United Kingdom and United States) and European envoys over the killings and serious human rights violations being committed by India in held Kashmir. The adviser conveyed concerns over the bloodshed in IHK, in which more than 80 in**cent Kashmiris have been killed and over 7,000 injured since the last month. He regretted the refusal by India in response to Pakistan’s proposal for talks on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He briefed the ambassadors over the exchange of letters between the Pakistan foreign secretary and his Indian counterpart. He said the international community, especially the permanent members of the UN Security Council and the European Union, had an important role in upholding the principles of international humanitarian laws. He urged them to fulfil their commitments to the people of Jammu and Kashmir as per the UNSC resolutions. He said Pakistan welcomed the UN secretary general’s offer and would be ready for dialogue to resolve the dispute. The P-5 and EU ambassadors stressed the need to resolve the issue peacefully. They also ack**wledged the importance of dialogue to address this longstanding issue and the prevailing grave situation in IHK.
