Commissioner orders inquiry against Buildings DO From Our Correspondent FAISALABAD: Commissioner Momin Agha has ordered an inquiry against Buildings District ******r Tahir Mehmood on the charge of substandard construction of boundary wall of the Millat Town Model Bazaar. Talking to newsmen at the Circuit House on Thursday, he appointed Works EDO Ashraf Khokhar as the inquiry ******r. He said that the project was completed at a cost of Rs 350 million about two months ago. He said that the drive against corrupt ******rs would continue without any discrimination. He said that five ******rs, including two college principals and a deputy superintendent jail, had so far been sacked for corruption during the drive. The commissioner said that road, sweet drinking water and other projects would soon be launched. He expressed hope that FAISALABAD would become better than Lahore within the next 15 years after completion of these welfare projects. He said that strict action would be taken against the land grabbers in Faisalabad. He said that steps were being taken to improve the Education Department and construct new class rooms in the schools. A senior journalist pointed out traffic hazards in the City and suggested that four big van and bus stands operating on Railway Road, Abdullahpur and outside Aminpur Bazaar should be shifted to some other places as laid down in the master plan. It would automatically resolve the traffic issues, he added. He further proposed that the ring road should be constructed as per the master plan to divert the vehicular traffic to the places of their destinations. The commissioner agreed with the suggestions and said that he would thoroughly examine the proposals after going through the master plan. To a question regarding growing encroachments in the city, he said that he had recently held a meeting with traders to suggest measures for weeding out encroachments. To a question regarding sanitary conditions and provision of free medicines to the deserving patients in the public sector hospitals in Faisalabad, the commissioner said that efficacy and efficiency of the hospitals had considerably been increased due to surprise visits of the DCO to the hospitals.
