KARACHI: The Sindh government has said that the federal government has unduly deducted Rs6.13 billion suddenly from the accounts of the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department under the head of withholding tax, stating that such a massive Deduction of tax by the federal authorities was totally unwarranted and tantamount to usurping the due financial rights of the province.
Eight provincial ministers and special assistants of the new Sindh cabinet on Tuesday collectively addressed a press conference on the issue of sudden Deduction of Rs6.13 billion as withholding tax from the Sindh government’s accounts and an**unced that they would resort to agitation against this unwarranted anti-federation attitude of the federal government of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).
The provincial ministers and special assistants said that they reserved the right to protest on the occasion of the prime minister’s upcoming visit to Karachi if the federal government didn’t return the money deducted from the accounts of the provincial government.
