Karachi law and order case: SC urges govt to take action
KARACHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday assailed the Sindh government for **t taking proper steps in ensuring maintenance of law and order situation in the country.
During the proceedings of the Karachi law and order case on Thursday, the Chief Justice inquired about the status of the CCTV cameras to be placed at different locations in the city. To which the Chief Secretary replied that an amount of rupees ten billion had been allocated for new CCTV cameras. The court responded by stating that the government had failed to take action hence the Supreme Court had taken up the issue of law and order. "The issue is **t allocating funds but also spending them where they are required to be spent," said the Chief Justice. "We want full implementation on the orders of the Karachi law and order case," he added. The Chief Justice of Pakistan further said that security arrangements were undertaken on papers. He cautioned the government to take immediate steps rather than wait for a**ther tragedy to take place. The Chief Justice said that if immediate steps were **t taken then tragedies and disasters would keep taking place. "Institutions like hospitals are soft targets for terrorists," he said. He said that agents of RAW and Taliban could have their men recruited on fake names. Such recruits and security guards then turn out to be terrorists, said the Chief Justice. He also said that private security guards were recruited without proper verification or scrutiny. On the other hand, stringent security measures were adopted at the court after the recent Quetta attack. IG Sindh AD Khawaja's vehicle was also stopped and checked, which enraged the chief of police.
