Says negative comments may damage security agencies’ morale
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday came to the defence of intelligence and security agencies, saying that those speaking against the national agencies should have spoken against the role of RAW and NDS, Afghan and Indian spy agencies, in Pakistan. Speaking at the national Assembly session on Wednesday, Chaudhry Nisar condemned the contents of the speech of PkMAP chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai and said negative comments against the intelligence agencies will damage their morale. The minister applauded the army, intelligence agencies and police, saying despite a lack of equipment they were confronting terrorists with courage. He was of the view that a collective message from parliament should have been given valuing the role and sacrifices of intelligence agencies in the war against terror, instead of questioning their performance in the wake of the Quetta attack. To make the intelligence sharing system more foolproof, the minister said that the ISI, IB and provincial security institutions and intelligence agencies would share their information. He said that due to the unity of the nation and understanding of the political and military leadership, the incidents of terrorism have been reduced to a great deal during tenure of the present government. He said that in 2009-10, there were daily five to six incidents of terrorism and 2,000 incidents on annual basis in the country. “ So far 181 terror acts have been reported during first eight months of the ongoing year while a total of 477 incidents occurred during the last two and half years,” he said, adding that with unity they would be able to eliminate terrorism completely. Nisar said improvement in the law and order situation in the country was the result of the effective efforts of the armed forces, intelligence agencies, civil armed forces and police supported by the nation. “All this change has been brought about due to unity in the nation and political leadership and understanding between political and military leadership,” he said. He pointed out that the military operation Zarb-e-Azb was started with consensus of the military and political leadership while all the political parties jointly drafted the national Action Plan (NAP). He said the PML-N government started talks with Taliban with sincerity only to get rid of menace of terrorism while then army chief also termed it the best option. However, he said on one hand the talks were in progress and on the other hand there was ** end to terror attacks. “Following attack on Karachi airport, the prime minister observed that e**ugh is e**ugh,” he said. "Next few months are going to be a defining moment for us and we will take this war to its logical end,” he said. During his speech, he remarked with meaningful smile that first time, he appreciated Asif Ali Zardari during all parties conference which was called by the prime minister to chalk out the NAP. He said the decision to start Zarb-e-Azb was made in May 2014, and on June 7 the same year the prime minister decided that the operation would start a week later. All political parties had agreed **t to oppose the military operation, he said, adding that ** military operation can succeed without full backing of the public and the government. "The dramatic improvement in Pakistan's security situation is the result of this cooperation," he said. The minister said the military courts were established to punish terrorists and **t meant against political rivals. "The convictions of terrorists by military courts have yielded positive results," he said. Meanwhile, during question hour, Nisar said Mulla Mansour was **t a Pakistani national and he succeeded in getting a passport in 2005. “It was renewed in 2011, which showed the issue did **t take place during the present government's tenure and on the same passport Mulla Mansour visited Iran, Bahrain and UAE, adding that action was taken against all those officials who were found involved in the entire story. In a reply to a a**ther question, Nisar told the national Assembly that Nadra blocked as many as 237,000 CNICs and cancelled 29,000 passports over the last three years. However, he said, out of these, 40,124 CNICs were cleared in 2015 and 34,130 in 2016. He said Nadra had taken many initiatives for facilitation of general public and started CNICs re-verification drive in which so far over 35 million CNICs had been verified. أكثر... ??????? ??????: Critics of national agencies ought to assail RAW, NDS, says Nisar || ??????: ahlam1399 || ??????: اسم منتداك
