افتراضي Young singers seek opportunity to shine at PTI rallies

ISLAMABAD: For many the ongoing Ehtesab Movement launched by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan is just a political effort to get to power corridors but many Young singers look at it as an opportunity to introduce themselves at the bigger stage.

It is due to this fact that some 300 youngsters have so far sent their pro-PTI songs to DJ Butt with a hope that these would be played during speeches of Imran Khan thus making them a 'star' overnight.

According to Asif Nazar Butt, commonly k**wn as DJ Butt, the songs were sent by Young and emerging singers in eight languages including Urdu, English, Punjabi, Pashto, Sindhi, Balochi, Shina and Kashmiri. "I have talked to Faisal Javaid Khan and Mian Yusuf Salahuddin and **w we are in a process to select few of those songs that are technically sound and presentable before the audience. But the youngsters keep sending more songs with a hope that we would play them during the speech of Imran Khan," he said.

DJ Butt said he never wanted to comment whether or **t the protest sit-in of Imran Khan at D-Chowk in August 2014 was a success but it provided an opportunity to some youngsters to introduce themselves through their background songs like Bilal Khan, Usman Bangash and Afshan Zebi. He said there are many youngsters who have sent their poetry with a message that they should make composition and prepare song out of it, adding, "We don't have any mechanism to prepare compositions or songs because the only thing we can do is playing selective songs on the stage."

Referring to a rap song sent by famous singer Bohemia, he said he is an internationally popular singer who have hundreds of thousands fans worldwide but Imran Khan personally never like rap singing due to which his song was only played once during the rally held on August 7. He said the real name of Bohemia is Roger David and he was born in Karachi in October 1979 into an ethnic Punjabi family. It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI's sit-in at D-Chowk miserably failed to topple the incumbent government but music, songs and sometimes even dances in the evening time at the venue caught 'attention' of many people in the country.

To a question, he said they have asked all the youngsters who have sent their songs to also provide undertaking stating they give us the copyrights of the songs. DJ Butt said he has also provided his services to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on two occasions because he is a professional DJ and works with commitment.
