Pakistan offers to arrange medical treatment for injured Kashmiris
PM says Pakistan ready to arrange treatment for Indian state terrorism victims in any part of world; asks world community to use influence over India
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said Pakistan wanted to arrange medical treatment for the victims of state oppression by the security forces in Indian held Kashmir (IHK). He said Pakistan especially desired eye treatment of the victims of pellet guns from the best available medical facilities anywhere in the world on immediate basis. He also called upon the international community to exercise its influence over India for enabling Pakistan to arrange the medical treatment of the victims in the wake of ongoing humanitarian crisis in the occupied valley. In a strongly-worded statement here, the premier said being blinded has severe consequences for the victims and their families; some victims of the pellet guns may never see light again. Still, he said, they are resolute; they are guided by the light of freedom for the realisation of their right to self-determination. “Pakistan will continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to them,” said the prime minister. “The magnitude of the humanitarian crisis in IHK has compelled us to immediately pool our material and human resources for treating the victims,” said the prime minister. Even more gruesome is that healthcare providers in IHK have **t been allowed to treat the victims properly. The Indian security forces have also been targeting the hospitals and ambulances providing healthcare to the peaceful and defenceless in**cent protesters, the prime minister added. He directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mobilise the support of international political leadership, the humanitarian organisations and civil society through Pakistan missions abroad in exerting influence over India to allow the Government of Pakistan for arranging the treatment of the victims in IHK on humanitarian grounds. The government will arrange for the boarding, lodging, expenses on medical treatment for the victims, the prime minister directed. Nawaz called upon the international community to immediately help arrange medical treatment for the victims in IHK, especially for treatment of eye injuries resulting from use of pellet guns by the Indian forces.
