JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman, PkMAP chief Mahmood Achakzai, National Party President Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo and Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao meet Nawaz separately; QWP chief to convey govt’s viewpoint about contentious
issues to Imran ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had on Friday extensive consultations with the leaders of political parties’ constituting the ruling alliance and likeminded political leaders to counter agitation. He impressed upon the need for unity in the ranks of political leadership and to have conducive working ambiance between them for the sake of country. The meetings took place at the Prime Minister’s House on Friday and the leaders expressed their complete faith and support in the democratic order that has ensured the consistent all-round development. JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman, PkMAP chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, National Party President Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao were among the leaders who met the prime minister separately. Talking to Fazl, Nawaz said all political parties of the country need to collectively contribute towards the development and progress of the motherland. According to the Prime Minister House, political matters of national importance were discussed during the meeting. The ongoing development projects of the federal government in the KP province also came under discussion. The meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao had conspicuous significance, as the latter is ally in the KP government with the PTI. The Prime Minister House said the two leaders discussed the overall national affairs and matters pertaining to the current political situation in the country. It is understood that Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao will be meeting the PTI leader Imran Khan in a day or two to lower temperature between the federal government and the PTI. Nawaz gave him the government’s standpoint regarding the contentious issues and in the light of that he would speak to the PTI leaders, the sources said. The overall national affairs and political matters were discussed during the meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Mahmood khan Achakzai. The Prime Minister House stated that development schemes pertaining to Balochistan also came under discussion. Nawaz reiterated his government’s resolve to extend the agenda of development to all parts of the country. “The people of Balochistan will reap the benefits of the ongoing mega projects in the province. Our collective efforts have resulted into a stable and peaceful Balochistan,” said the prime minister. Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Mir Hasil Khan Bazinjo discussed various issues pertaining to Balochistan. Overall matters of national significance also came under discussion during the meeting. “Being a political party and representative of the people of our province, we are totally supportive of the democratically elected federal government,” Mir Hasil Khan Bazinjo said during the meeting. Nawaz reminded Mir Hasil that his government firmly believed in the politics of national development and progress. “We are focused and determined to implement our developmental programme across the country. The people of Pakistan have witnessed a positive change in all sectors of national eco**my, and in the overall security situation of the country. The people’s trust in our policies is our strength, which enables us to perform and deliver,” said the prime minister. Well-placed sources told The News Friday evening that Nawaz Sharif was also mulling over having meetings with some opposition stalwarts next week. The prime minister is of firm view that differences between the government and opposition shouldn’t widen to the extent that it could hamper the process of development and become a source of threat for the system. The sources said Prime Minister Nawaz was trying to impress upon the leadership that the situation doesn’t allow for any agitation in the country. The agitators must understand the sensitivity of the situation in and around the country.
