BAHAWALPUR: Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) Medical Superintendent Dr Shahid Faraz Thursday said that ** female patient died of Congo fever in the hospital on Wednesday night.
Talking to reporters, the MS said patient Fahmida Bibi was brought to the hospital for a cesarean delivery. He said blood platelets of the woman were 66,000, and to save her life doctors conducted a cesarean on her and she gave birth to baby girl, but soon after this she died of post-operation complications or perhaps due to platelets deficiency. The MS said, however, her samples for PCR test have been sent to Islamabad.
He said samples of a**ther woman Abida Bibi for PCR test also were sent to Islamabad as she also lacked platelets and was in critical condition. The MS said ** doctor has reported any Congo fever patient and there was ** threat of Congo virus at BVH. He said operation theatre of Gynae ward of the hospital was sealed owing to the death of the woman to maintain precautionary measures. He said cases against the accused were registered in Baghdadul Jadeed and Civil lines police stations.
