Amarnath Yatra in Valley suspended
ISLAMABAD: The ongoing Amarnath Yatra, the most sanctified Hindu sojourn on difficult hill terrain in Occupied Kashmir has been suspended on Wednesday yet again over the prevailing unrest in the state and due to fresh disturbances reported from Anantnag.
The Occupied Jammu and Kashmir police had on Monday confirmed the resumption of the Amarnath Yatra, three-days after it was suspended in wake of the violence in the state. As per reports, ** fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed from Bhagwati Nagar Yatra base camp. Meanwhile, the death toll in the clashes between protesters and security forces in Kashmir crossed 33, while **rmal life remained paralysed due to curfew-like restrictions and strike. Calling on the people of Jammu and Kashmir to cooperate with the state government amid the turbulent situation in the valley, Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday called for restraint among locals while assuring that action will be taken on security forces for using 'excessive force'. The APHC leaders Syed Ali Gilani and Yaseen Malik have called for the strike in the Valley to be extended by two more days (July 14 and 15) and have also asked the people to stage protests after the Friday prayers. أكثر...
