Flood has started rising in the Indus River
NAWABSHAH: Flood has started rising in the Indus River, and the irrigation department has activated its staff for vigil and strengthening of embankments at the sites of Mekaro Dhoro, Mud Mangli and Chararo Sharif for safe passage of high streams.
In this regard, Colonel Tahir of Pakistan Army, the Commandant of Indus Rangers, Brigadier Shahid Mahmood, and Deputy Commissioner Ghanwar Ali Laghari visited the Mud Mangli site to evaluate the situation. At the site, the Superintendent Engineer of Irrigation, Haji Khan Jamali, said that stone pitching work was in progress at the sensitive sites in the wake of the rising level of Flood water. He said that the National Highway Authority had been allocated Rs300 million for extension of Amirjee Bridge, but work was still to take off.
