India can?t resolve Kashmir issue sans self-determination: Sartaj
ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Monday termed the Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir as condemnable and deplorable, saying that India can**t resolve the Kashmir issue without giving the Kashmiris the right to self-determination.
In an interview with a private TV channel, he said such acts are a violation of the fundamental human rights of Kashmiris and can**t deter the people of Jammu and Kashmir from their demand for the realisation of the right to self determination. Sartaj Aziz said that it has been shown by the Kashmiris that they only demand freedom and liberty whereas India is continuously spreading chaos in the region. He clarified that Pakistan strictly adheres to its stance regarding Kashmir’s independence as ** other solution is effective in this regard. He also pledged to raise his voice against Indian brutalities in Kashmir at international forums. On the other hand, five people including a teenage girl were killed in overnight clashes between protesters and government forces in the Indian held Kashmir after a popular separatist leader was shot dead, police said. The protests follow the killing on Friday of Burhan Wani, the 22-year-old commander of Kashmir’s largest separatist group Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) during a gunbattle with the government forces. Around 300 people have been injured, including nearly 100 policemen, and hospitals say they are overwhelmed.
