Widespread rains likely during Saturday to Monday
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) strong monsoon currents are likely to penetrate in upper parts of the country in next 24 hours. A fresh westerly wave is also expected to approach upper parts of the country on Saturday. In Punjab Widespread rain thundershowers with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected in Islamabad and Upper Punjab including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha and Faisalabad divisions. Scattered rain thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are also expected in central and South Punjab including Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur divisions during the period. While in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Widespread rain thunder showers with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan divisions. In FATA Widespread rain thundershowers with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected in Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai **rth and South Agencies. In Kashmir Widespread rain thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Poonch divisions while in Gilgit Baltistan scattered rain thunderstorm is expected in Gilgit Baltistan. Monsoon rain coupled with glacier melt water may result in outburst of some glacial lakes in Chitral, Gilgit ,Ghizer and Shigarareas. Heavy downpour may generate urban flooding in big cities and flash flooding in vulnerable areas of Punjab and KP during Saturday to Monday. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has directed the concerned authorities to take all out precautionary measures to avoid losses of lives and damage to properties during the upcoming rain spell.
