افتراضي Prominent Pakistanis express sorrow and grief at Sabri's killing

KARACHI: After Prominent qawwal Amjad Sabri was gunned down in Karachi, Pakistani celebrities expressed their feelings of shock and anger at his target-killing.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave his condolences to the family of the deceased and said that he was saddened by the incident. Amir of Jamat-e-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq expressed his grief at the incident.

Former Pakistani cricketer and PTI chief Imran Khan condemned the tragic murder that took place in Liaquatabad.

"Shocked at the murder of famous qawwal Amjad Sabri & his companions in Karachi. A complete failure of law & order & writ of the govt," tweeted Khan.

"Amjad Sabri's killers must be arrested immediately," said Siraj-ul-Haq.

Pakistani musician Jawad Ahmad was particularly sad at Sabri's killing. "Amjad Sabri was a great man," he said. "His attitude was one of love and attitude," he added.

Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh also spoke to Geo News and said that he could **t understand how anyone could kill a man who used to glorify Allah and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in every prayer, naat or qawwali of his.

Jawad Ahmad went on to say that he had met Amjad Sabri and fondly recalled that he was a very humble and modest man.

"It is a sad and horrible moment for the government and the state," said Jawad. "Until and unless powers are **t transferred to the common person, questions will remain unanswered," he added.

Jawad Ahmad also said that he did **t think Sabri had enmity with any person.

A**ther Pakistani singer and former lead singer of the band Fusion, Shafqat Amanat Ali expressed shock and grief at Sabri's killing.

"I can**t understand this neither can I make any sense of it," said Shafqat.

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan also took to her Twitter account and expressed her shock at Amjad Sabri's death.

A**ther Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane was also saddened by Sabri's target-killing, terming it as 'utterly disturbing'.

"Totally shocked to hear the news of @AmjadSabri. May Allah bless him with Jannah (heaven) for he praised Him & His Prophet beautifully all his life," tweeted Ayaz Sadiq, the speaker of Pakistan´s parliament.

"Shocked and saddened by news of the killing of Amjad Sabri, **t just a crime but an attack on our culture and heritage," added Mustafa Qadri, a human rights researcher at Amnesty International.

Re**wned Pakistani scholar and television presenter Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain praised Amjad Sabri as someone who used to glorify the name of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and did **t harbour any ill feelings towards anyone.

Ali Zafar also termed the incident as an 'extremely sad' one.
