Senior FC official, driver, gunman killed in Peshawar firing
Amir Badshah, the district ******r of the FC, along with his driver Gul Rasool and gunman Gul Rahman left his home in Latif Town at around 8:00am for ****** in his official vehicle on Wednesday when the incident happened. “Armed men intercepted the car of the FC ******r near the Patang Chowk and opened fire on all those seated in the vehicle,” Capital City Police ******r (CCPO) Mubarak Zeb told The News. The three occupants of the car sustained critical bullet wounds and later succumbed to their injuries. The bodies were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital.“The attackers fired 14 rounds on the car of the FC official killing all onboard,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat. The attack is apparently part of the growing targeted killings in Peshawar. “It seems to be target killings. We have launched a combing operation in the area to arrest the killers,” added Abbas Majeed Marwat. A source said the attackers also took away the ******* after making sure that the three FC officials were dead. The officials, however, did **t confirm the report.Amir Badshah was an ******r of the rank of SSP and was currently serving at the FC headquarters. Some reports said he had submitted an application for 10 days leave from Thursday, but was slain before he could avail it. The funeral prayers for the three slain FC personnel were offered at the FC headquarters in Peshawar Saddar. It was attended by a large number of officials of the FC and other law-enforcement agencies. The incidents of targeted killings have increased in the provincial capital over the last few months causing concern among the people and posing a challenge to the government and law-enforcement agencies. According to statistics, 18 high-profile individuals have come under attack by the target killers during the last five months in Peshawar alone. The number of target killing incidents, as per the official figures, was nine during the same period last year. Those killed in target killings during the last five months included Senior and junior officials of the army, FC, police, elders of the traders community and others.A source said the force had compiled a list of target killers in all areas of the provincial capital and a *****down on those individuals and groups would be launched soon. The source added that a few of those mentioned in the list had been nabbed recently. Muhammad Saleh Zaafir adds: In a statement to de**unce the terror attack in Peshawar earlier in the day, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif maintained that “Pakistan has to win the war on terror for its survival.” According to the PM House, the prime minister made the remarks while strongly condemning the terror attack in Peshawar on Wednesday. Three Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel were martyred in the firing by terrorists. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the security forces are fighting the war valiantly, and their matchless sacrifices are meant for safeguarding the country against the nefarious designs of terrorists.
