US extends peace offer to new Afghan Taliban chief *
In a daily media briefing here Wednesday, US State Department deputy spokesman, Mark Toner said, “The new Taliban chief does have an opportunity in front of him to choose peace and to work towards a negotiated solution. We hope that he makes that choice **w.” To question whether Mullah Haibatullah was on any kind of a terrorist designated list under the US, the spokesman said the new Taliban chief was **t on any kind of such list. After the death of Mullah Akhtar Mansour, who headed the Taliban after Mullah Muhammad Omar, the banned organisation has chosen Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada as their new Emir or chief. Senior Taliban military commander Sirajuddin Haqqani and the son of Mullah Muhammad Omar, Mullah Yaqoob, have been appointed as Deputy Supreme leaders of the organisation.
