ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court sought para-wise comments from the state counsel in a petition filed seeking registration of an FIR against Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz for his alleged invitation to militants of Islamic State to Pakistan.
A single judge bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani also directed the interior ministry to send a senior official to represent the ministry before the court on next date of hearing to apprise the court of the stance of interior minister in this regard.
During the course of proceedings, Moazzam Habib counsel for the petitioner Jibran Nasir appeared before the court and requested to decide the case as soon as possible as his client had serious life threats.
He also alleged that Jamia Hafsa students in a video message invited the IS group to Pakistan to take revenge of the deaths of Osama bin Laden and victims of Lal Masjid operation which was also supported by Maulana Abdul Aziz.The bench adjourned the hearing for June 9.
