ISLAMABAD: The joint opposition will end their boycott as Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan and Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah are expected to address today’s session of the National Assembly.
Today’s National Assembly session is expected to be a heated one, as PTI chief Imran Khan is likely to criticise Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the federal government with regard to the Panama leaks controversy. Imran was expected to address the National Assembly after Khursheed Shah had spoken on Monday but was unable to do so since the joint opposition had decided to walk out. The PTI chairman had claimed while speaking to media personnel, that he was himself accountable before the public and so was PM Sharif.
Government and opposition representatives will both meet today at the Parliament House to deliberate the forming of a parliamentary committee which will determine the Terms of Reference (ToRs) of the judicial commission. Prime Minister Nawaz had suggested the formation of a parliamentary committee to determine the Terms of Reference of the judicial commission.
The joint opposition had walked out in protest after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech at the National Assembly on Monday. Khursheed Shah had claimed that the opposition had asked seven simple questions from Mr Sharif who had failed to answer them.
