The United States should realise that Pakistan is fighting a war against terrorism to ensure peace in the world, the minister said on Friday while speaking in Nuqta-e-Nazar and perspective programme of Radio Pakistan’s news and current affairs channel. Defence analyst Air Marshal (retd) Shahid Latif, Senator Nehal Hashmi and other senior experts also expressed their views in the programme. Pervaiz Rashid said the US agreed to give subsidy on the purchase of F-16s but it has backed out of the agreement because of the Congress pressure. Pakistan is sacrificing lives of its citizens and suffering eco**mic losses for global peace, he added. He said the US should also realise that Pakistan is **t fighting the war against terrorism just for itself but it is for global peace. Pakistan is fighting the war against terrorists successfully and the F-16 fighter jets are playing a vital role in continuing the war against terrorism. Air Marshal Shahid Latif said Pakistan should look for other options other than the United States to strengthen its defence. “We already have developed the JF-17 Thunder with the support of China and these are reliable and affordable jets and becoming the backbone of our air force,” he said. Defence analyst Lt-Gen (retd) Amjad Shoaib said Pakistan was interested in purchase of F-16 fighter jets from the US because our pilots are familiar with F-16. He said the US Congress is under the strong influence of the Indian lobby. Therefore, we should **t depend on US. Senator Nehal Hashmi said the government will try to mature the F-16s deal till the last moment. “Pakistan is the major coalition partner of the US in the war on terrorism,” he said. “Washington is aware of this fact that Pakistan is **t its colony. We can purchase fighter jets from other countries as well.” أكثر... ??????? ??????: US Senate body?s attitude on F-16 purchase **t appropriate: Rashid || ??????: ahlam1399 || ??????: اسم منتداك
