Public prosecutors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa boycott court proceedings
PESHAWAR: Public prosecutors across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday observed complete boycott of court proceedings to protest the manhandling and jailing of a Public prosecutor in Chitral district. The prosecutor, Afzal Khan, was thrashed after he allegedly used harsh words that later resulted in a scuffle between the prosecutors and Sessions Judge Chitral Ahmad Sultan Tareen and Senior Civil Judge Ajmal Tahir. Amid the prosecutors’ protest across the province, thousands of cases could **t be heard. The Prosecution ******rs Welfare Association demanded Peshawar High court chief justice to take **tice of the issue and initiate action against the judicial ******rs of Chitral. The association’s ******-bearers said that the prosecutor was given official residence adjacent to the session judge’s house after his appointment in the district. The association’s president, Saeed Naeem Khan, said the judge asked him to vacate the house but the prosecutor moved the Peshawar High court against the order and got a stay order. He said the sessions judge brought a bulldozer and started demolishing the wall, which was resisted by the prosecutor.
