Oracle to establish GCC hub at The Edge, Dubai Oracle has agreed terms with Sweid & Sweid to establish a GCC hub at The Edge, which is currently under construction in Dubai Internet City, UAE. The 10-year lease agreement will facilitate a “major expansion” of Oracle’s Middle East cloud computing operations, according to the US-headquartered tech**logy giant. The deal will cover five of The Edge’s six floors, comprising almost 7,000 sqm. In light of the agreement, Oracle has an**unced that it will conduct a regional recruitment drive to staff its latest UAE ******. Commenting on the deal, Hussein Hamza, Gulf cluster leader at Oracle, said: “Dubai Internet City is the regional centre of the tech**logy industry. Development of buildings like The Edge enable us to attract the brightest and most skilled engineers from around the Middle East. “The premises will house our new regional cloud computing sales team, representing the next phase in the growth of our presence in Dubai,” he explained. Maher Sweid, managing partner of Dubai-based real estate firm Sweid & Sweid, added: “Having seen strong leasing interest in The Edge since we launched the project back in 2014, we are delighted to have agreed lease terms with Oracle, one of the world’s largest and most respected tech**logy companies. “The Edge offers a highly efficient and modern ****** space located in the heart of Dubai Internet City, one of the most sought-after locations for multinational corporations given its low density and proximity to the Sheikh Zayed Road. The Edge adds to our experience in the region and our growing presence in the Dubai market.” Construction of The Edge, which comprises almost 9,300 sqm of gross floor area over seven storeys, began in 2014. The building also boasts more than 8,300 sqm of underground parking space; one of the highest parking-to-****** ratios in the area, according to Sweid & Sweid. Designed by Brewer Smith Brewer Gulf (BSBG), The Edge was fully funded prior to the commencement of construction activities. Construction of the building is scheduled to complete during the second quarter of this year.
