Ohio State Surgeons Use Fluid Dynamics Simulator to Prep for Sinus Surgeries


At Ohio State University Surgeons are building virtual models of*patients heads in order to decide what procedure to perform and to prepare for each surgery. The software models the Fluid Dynamics in and around the sinuses, and allows Surgeons to perform virtual operations such as tissue removal. After these are done, the software can perform a Fluid Dynamics simulation to show how the surgery would affect that patient’s sinuses.
