Lesser-k**wn myths and stories about Lord Ganesha
Of the many myths and beliefs surrounding the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, the most popular is the one in which devotees of the lovable god are advised to avoid looking at the moon during the 10 days of the festival. For doing so intentionally, will bring upon them false accusations of any kind. However, if one does happen to look at the moon unintentionally, reciting the story of the syamantaka jewel from the Puranas can help ward off trouble.
