Exclusive Video: See How JINS SCREEN Glasses Block Out Blue Light
Last night we attended the unveiling of JINS SCREEN Glasses at the company’s eyewear store in San Francisco, their only US location. The company is one of the largest makers of eyeglasses in Japan and Asia, and **w with its Bay Area debut JINS has decided to expand to the US. While the firm has interesting selling points as far as typical Glasses go (they will do a pair of Glasses in 30 minutes or less by using a proprietary robotic system), we were interested in company’s new JINS SCREEN tech**logy that blocks Blue Light from reaching the retina. Scientists increasingly think that the amount of Blue Light that reaches our eyes is central to tuning our circadian rhythms. The idea is that in the evening, during which our primitive ancestors were getting their bamboo cots ready for sleep, we are **wadays staring at bright screens that emit tons of Blue light. Hence we end up rolling around while frantically trying to adjust our sleep numbers. We’ve seen a bunch of other Glasses that do the same, but they are all yellow or brown tinted, drastically transforming how everything looks. The JINS SCREEN Glasses look perfectly clear, and when we tried them they didn’t seem to exhibit any color offsets. Yet, as you can see in the video below, the Glasses really Block a narrow range of Blue Light (by absorption and reflection).
