Kate Mara Calls for an Anti-Tech Revolution in Viral Teaser for ‘Transcendence’
 If you’ve ever worried that tech**logy might be moving too fast, that computer intelligence could soon move so far past human intelligence that we’re left cowering in the dust, that the machines will then turn around and destroy us, their makers — well, then Kate Mara has some terrible news for you. According to a Viral video from the mysterious revolutionary organization RIFT, computers are indeed the number one threat to humankind right **w, and the only way to save our species may be to stop the scientists and unplug the machines. As previously reported, the plot centers on AI researcher Will Caster (Johnny Depp) who uploads his consciousness into a computer when his life is threatened by a bunch of Anti-Tech extremists. The desperate move makes him the first being to achieve singularity, or “transcendence” as he Calls it. Based on the video below,*Mara may be the one leading the charge against Caster. Ironic, isn’t it, that she and her team might be the ones to put Caster’s transcendence in motion? The RIFT video comes hot on the heels of two teasers that expressed slightly more optimistic views of tech**logy. Depp narrated the first, and Morgan Freeman the second. You can watch them here. Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, and Cillian Murphy also star in the film, which opens April 18, 2014. Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever k**wn with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-tech**logy extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is **t if they can…but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for k**wledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unk**wn.
