Authorities issue advice ahead of Ramadan
Authorities issue advice ahead RamadanA Ramadan awareness campaign has been launched by Abu Dhabi Police advising residents against bad behaviour such as begging, overspending, speeding and illegal fireworks. The initiative, which is being held under the slogan ‘Your Safety’, will run throughout the month. Captain Mubarak Al Mansouri, Media Campaigns Branch Manager at the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the ****** of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said: “We will also urge the public to adhere to fire safety regulations, especially inside Ramadan tents, and encourage motorists to refrain from parking vehicles randomly near mosques, especially during the Tarawih prayer.” The drive, which will be implemented by police and other sectors of the Ministry of Interior, will also include activities and programmes of a humanitarian and spiritual nature. “The objective is to reduce stress levels for those who are fasting, and for those who are in the fields of traffic, security, society, or prevention,” said Al Mansouri. Police said they have also stepped up measures to stop begging as the problem increases during Ramadan. “This is fraud, **t people in need,” said Col Rashid Borshid, acting director of Abu Dhabi Community Police Directorate. He claimed some beggars go door-to-door to familiarise themselves with homes so they can later attempt robberies. Among the 300 beggars arrested last Ramadan was an Asian woman who was caught asking for handouts outside a mosque to raise money for her daughter’s wedding in her home country. Police said the 50-year-old mother-of-four had entered the country on a visit visa. [email protected] GUIDE TO Ramadan DON’T: >> *****, drink or eat in public during the hours of sunrise to sunset.
