Chuck Berry took to the studio in Chicago on this date 60 Years ago to record his first single for Chess Records...a little number called "Maybellene." It was a hit, reaching **. 5 on the singles charts, but more importantly, it's often cited as the starting place for rock 'n' roll, more so than any other song. Berry may have been one of the first to break from the blues into rock 'n' roll but he took something from his guitar forbearers, mixing things up Live and **t being afraid to toy with the formula, even for one of his most famous songs.
