In his affidavit before the Election Commission, Tawde had submitted that he is a graduate in electronics and that he holds a degree from a Pune-based university. But his rivals in the Congress and NCP found that the degree has ** value as ?the university from which he has obtained it is **t recognized by the UGC?. Tawde did admit that the university is **t recognized, but he said he had completed the four-and-half-year course. The controversy was followed by a row over his educational qualification and then there was a**ther debate over display of photographs at educational institutions.
