LOS ANGELES — Stop the presses: Spotlight just scooped Best Picture.

"This film gave a voice to survivors," writer/director Tom McCarthy said Sunday night in accepting the award for his film, which follows a dogged team of Boston Globe reporters who worked to expose *** abuse in the Catholic Church in the early '00s.

"Pope Francis, it's time to protect the children and restore the faith," he continued.
