Decorated Actress, writer and
Activist has died at the age of 91.
Dee died Wednesday in her home in New Rochelle, New York, of natural causes, her personal representative confirmed Thursday.

She was best k**wn for starring in the 1961 film
A Raisin in the Sun before she was **minated for an Academy Award for her role in
American Gangster in 2008. Dee got her start on Broadway, but easily made the transition to television and film, and was **minated for eight Emmy Awards, winning one for the 1990 TV movie
Decoration Day. She also won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album with her late husband Ossie Davis,
With Ossie and Ruby: In This Life Together, which tied with former President Jimmy Carter in 2007.
