A Texas School District Just Approved Corporal Punishment - Yes, Really

A school district located just outside of San Antonio, TX, has approved corporal punishment for its students. On July 18, the board officials for the Three Rivers Independent School District deemed that paddling was an acceptable method of discipline for misbehaving students.

According to local CBS station KHOU-TV, students who do **t follow classroom rules or even break a mi**r rule will be subject to one paddling. That being said, parents will need to approve this as a form of punishment for their children first.

In an interview with CBS News, Superintendent Sheryl Moore said, "We think that corporal punishment should be a family decision, **t a school decision," adding, "We will provide the parent with all the information necessary regarding the situation so they can decide whether they think that's appropriate. But that's **t something the school district wants to be involved in."

Though the decision is surprising for many, there are reportedly 26 other school districts that allow similar methods.
