Army distributes cheques among landowners of Swat cantt
 

MINGORA: The Pakistan Army on Saturday distributed compensation cheques to people who provided their land for establishment of cantonment in Swat district.

The cheque distribution ceremony was held in Kanju town. A large number of locals and **tables of the area attended the ceremony.

Speaking to journalists at the Kanju Fort, General ******r Commanding Major General Asif Ghafoor ack**wledged the public support that enabled the Pakistan Army to defeat terrorists and **rmalize the situation in Swat that was once a stronghold of the militants.

He highlighted the sacrifices rendered by the army, other law-enforcement agencies and the Pakistani nation in the war against terrorism and militancy. He also highlighted the impact made by the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb military operation in **rth Waziristan.

He said the army and the nation would never allow resurgence of terrorism at any cost. He particularly hailed the people of Swat for voluntarily providing land for establishment of the cantonment.
